As humanity, we are inevitably at a breaking point; a point where our existence is hanging in the balance. The major, or even the only contributing factor towards this massive predicament is the rampant lawlessness that has taken center-stage within our world. Lawlessness on the other hand is the direct result of poor or failed governance. When we take this issue even further, we should all be able to agree on one thing: Failure in corporate governance usually has its roots in disoriented personal governance. In this case, proper governance of oneself is usually seen in how well one gets to hold him or herself accountable for his or her decisions in life without self-victimization so that through this, one is able make better overall decisions in life.
The question is, then, who has ever been able to do this? The fact that we are all unable to provide an immediate answer to this without first thinking of the fact that we are indeed held accountable to someone somewhere who is a perfect moral judge should be enough reason for us to search out some sense in our lives. In this case, it is the fear of death, the ultimate defining moment of anyone’s existence, that keeps us from holding ourselves accountable as we strive to numb ourselves from this fatal predicament by indulging in experiences that actually only contribute to our imminent decay. I mean, how foolish is this? Why not just cling on to experiences that might at least preserve our lives to some extent and even genuinely tackle our fear of death by affording us some peace of mind?
Try then, and ask the average religious person; anyone of them but specifically the Christian; why did Jesus Christ come to earth as a man? I mean, while this individual might plainly say to you; “to save humanity or to save the world” [as most of them would], I don’t believe that you would be genuinely satisfied in as much as this is a universal truth. I mean, one would then think to himself; did God only allow His Son to die for the world so that it all ends in salvation and a most-longed-for journey back to heaven? And then what? How about this earth that God created in the beginning and then placed man in charge of? Will it all just fade away as to leave God with a half-done job of putting earth under the eternal stewardship of mankind?
I mean, was salvation only meant for the believers of Jesus Christ to be branded as “Christians” by a set of pagans during medieval times and then held hostage within the confines of elaborately-established religious institutions that only serve to tame sensual desires of men and much more so even tame the innate desire for dominion over every life situation that has intentionally been placed in every man’s heart by the Creator; in whose eternal image we have been equally made? I mean, again, what is Religion other than a set of rules and programmes passed down by men that are merely meant to tame sensual desires of subordinates as well as distract them from the real affairs of this real world which are by all means inescapable? Isn’t this Christian still affected by poor governance, insecurity, famine, poverty, the lack of education, health or even bad weather just like the average pagan, Hindu, Muslim or Budhist would?
As a Christian, how different are you from the non-Christian seated or living next to you apart from your belief in eternal life and your obedience of the 10 commandments? Do you still lie just to get out of tricky situations; do you spend hours gossiping about other people’s lives which are equally-God given and to be commentated on by God alone; do you take on a job just to make some wage at the end of the day or month all for your personal benefit or do you take time to engage on real matters like searching out the reason for your salvation?
I mean, salvation must have had a reason, as even God through His Spirit said that Jesus Christ took our place in death while we took His place in life. Do you take time to imagine what it means to take the place of Christ in life? It’s like me as a man running a highly profitable venture giving it all up just so that I can commit my resources to running a non-profit school that will get to educate thousands of children. Won’t I automatically expect everyone of these privileged children to also become highly-profitable in his or her life? I think in this case that each of these children should be able to frankly ask themselves such a question as this: “Why did this man just give up his entire estate to take me to school; was it just for me to get to school and then say that I am a school-goer?” Similarly, was Christ’s high-value sacrifice only meant to convert you into a Christian?
Salvation indeed came in from God as a contingency plan to restore mankind’s capacity to fulfill the Genesis 1:28 mandate of filling the earth with God’s nature and thus subduing it. God was all about governance from the very beginning. Christ’s coming and His subsequent 3-year capacity-building ministry was aimed at fulfilling God’s original will. This is well in-line with every bit of prohecy about the Son of God beginning all the way from Deuteronomy [18:15] and even Genesis [3:15]. In Isaiah 9:6-7, the prophet says: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: the goverment will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing it and upholding in with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” How about this for an introduction?
On the other hand, Paul also had a revelation of Christ being the head over every power and authority [Colossians 2:10] and the one who is seated far above all rule and authority, power and dominion [Ephesians 1:21]. Do these texts altogether introduce Jesus Christ [the Lord God within the Old Testament context] as a political figure or a synagogue leader? In fact, He has been plainly introduced to us and affirmed as being the ideal politician; the perfect monarch.
Seeing the governments of the day and all that has become of them over the years, there has been a lot of failure which has significantly incapacitated every area of human life; from societal issues, to economics, to education, health and last but not least; Religion. Religion is indeed no different from any of these other sectors as it is merely man’s idea of acknowledging the higher “unseen” power. It isn’t by any means God’s idea as God Himself is King whose sole focus is driving proper policies that serve to empower mankind to fulfill His eternal will. His policies carry such an enormous weight since they are backed and driven by His Spiritual understanding as He is Himself Spirit; the unseen person residing within the born-again believer. God always influences the intricate affairs of earth through human kings [political figures or leaders] who have the understanding and capacity needed to direct the course of various nations across the earth according to God’s liking. It all began with Ancient Egypt when He paired Joseph with Pharaoh so that Pharaoh’s empire got exalted through Joseph’s good policy making which even resulted in Egypt sustaining the entire world during a time when there was a worldwide famine.
After this, we got to see Him work through king Nebucchadnezer to execute stern judgment over His disobedient people until the time when their dues had been fully paid. Upon this, He brought along Cyrus King of Persia to help restore the former glory of Israel by sending Nehemiah and Ezra to rebuild Jerusalem’s city walls as well as the Temple respectively. At this point, Israel’s restoration didn’t come completely as there was still injustice and unrighteousness in the land. In the meantime, after the Persian-Median Empire had served its role within God’s divine timeline, it got replaced by the philosophical Grecian Empire which was eventually dethroned by the final Empire of the day; the Roman Empire, which served to set the stage for Jesus Christ to enter the scene to establish God’s eternal Kingdom.
While the Roman Empire’s rule was rooted in blatant injustice, idolatry and immorality; they did execute one thing quite remarkably which was colonialism. Indeed, colonialism was all about a distant country [Rome] sending out representatives in the form of governors into distant lands in order for them to introduce the native people to Roman culture. In this way, the Roman way of living was replicated across all her colonies without the Emperor necessarily making a personal trip to the colonies. This was the same case with the coming of Jesus Christ; as He came as a Governor from heaven sent by the Father to establish heavenly rule on earth by introducing men to the long-lost culture of God’s country, heaven. In this way, the heavenly way of living is to be replicated across the earth so that it becomes filled with the knowledge of God and His glory. This knowlegde cuts across society, economy, education, health, governance, arts, etc. There’s no place for Religion in the Kingdom of God as He is too Awesome to be defined within the context of Religion. This is why the average Christian is the most misunderstood person on earth; as Christians misrepresent God to the core.
Jesus Christ did not bring Religion, He brought governance. He brought a way through which God’s culture can be incorporated into every aspect of human life; from social relationships, to economics, education, health, arts, etc as all these fall under leadership and governance which is ultimately God’s to determine. God is a responsible ruler who deserves the attention of every single human being who sincerely desires to lead a well-governed life; a life whereby accountability isn’t something to be feared but something to be embraced to the core even if it means accepting death at the hands of ungodly men like Jesus Christ and all the matyrs did. He saved me and you so that He could be able to govern our lives according to God’s original will. For this reason, it would be in our best collective interest as men to choose the personal governance of Jesus Christ over Religion; the biggest scam of the day. Choose Christ’s governance over Religion! Christ over Religion!
